  1. WHAT IS ZONK?
  2.  
  3. Zonk  makes psychedelic patterns  to 
  4. stare at when you're too zonked  for 
  5. anything else. It might also be used 
  6. at raves etc.

  11. Photosensitive epileptics should not 
  12. stare at flickering  patterns.  This 
  13. may induce fits. The program  author 
  14. accepts  no  blame  for  damage   to 
  15. person  or property whilst  Zonk  is 
  16. running.

  19. ABOUT ZONK
  20.  
  21. Zonk needs a minimum of 1 Megabyte of
  22. memory and a colour monitor. It should
  23. be compatible with any ST, Mega or
  24. even Falcon (hopefully).
  25.  
  26. Zonk claims to be  semi-intelligent. 
  27. It  can tell how much memory  you've 
  28. got  and  exploits  it  by  grabbing 
  29. screens.    These   are   used    as 
  30. backgrounds and are shown in a  fast 
  31. slideshow.   Over 110 screens can be 
  32. stored in a 4 Megabyte STE.

  34. I wrote Zonk in STOS Basic with  the 
  35. Misty  extension.  It was  compiled, 
  36. fixed for TOS versions > 1.62  using 
  37. STOSFX11 and packed with Firepack.
  38.  
  39. This version (1.02) of  Zonk can now
  40. save  the  grabbed screens  as  well 
  41. as load and  process any NEO or  PI1 
  42. images (as Kozmic does).

  44. However, as Zonk can store say, 112 
  45. screens,  display each of them in 28 
  46. palettes and overlay each with  > 40 
  47. bitplane patterns this means:
  48.          112 x 28 x 40 variations.
  49.  
  50. Press  SPACE  whilst  the  main  two 
  51. pattern  routines  are  drawing,  or 
  52. during the fast slideshow to  access 
  53. menus for Screens, Saving, Loading
  54. and other options.

  56. *  The PD version can only  save 
  57. one screen.
  58.  
  59. *  Alternate/Help  is  set   to 
  60. default to Epson hardcopy.
  61.  
  62. * GEM accessories are  ignored. 
  63. It's  best to boot cleanly  to  save 
  64. space.

  109. Menu screen.
